IEC 61499 is a new domain specific programming and modeling paradigm for design and development of truly distributed control systems for industrial automation.

In this introductory course, you will learn about what is IEC 61499, why you should use it, how to use it, and what is its Eco-system (tools, PLC's, and its application domain). You will learn about various artifacts and the building blocks about the standard such as basic function blocks, composite function blocks, service interface function blocks, etc.

We will also look at different standard requirements and what they mean and how to use them. This is one course that will give you a complete overview of the standard and its eco-system.

The course will use real world use cases to demonstrate various concepts and artifacts of the standard.

Most of the videos are about the theory of the IEC 61499 standard and its eco-system. There are some examples used in the course and if you want to try them yourselves, then you need a Windows machine, preferably Windows 10
